A brow lift is a commonly performed plastic surgery procedure, mostly for aging men. As we age, the skin of the forehead can begin to sag, which can cause the eyebrows to take a lower position
The space between the eyebrows and eyelashes then becomes too small. This can obstruct vision and cause an oppressive and tired feeling at the eyes, or headaches. It also often gives a tired or older appearance.
This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. The treatment takes about an hour and a half.
This is followed by a relatively short period during which the operated area may be blue. A week later, during the wound checkup, any support sutures are removed. The resorbable suture may remain in place until it is absorbed by the body.
The effect of the brow lift is immediate, but the final result is visible only after several weeks and lasts on average, depending on lifestyle, about 10 to 15 years.

If the eyebrows begin to droop lower with age, such that there is a problem with vision, a brow lift may be a solution. Other common complaints are an oppressive or tired feeling of the eyes, or headaches at the level of the forehead.
Sometimes it is cosmetically distracting, most often it gives an older appearance. If you experience the above problems, it may be a good reason to consider a brow lift. Sometimes a brow lift is done in conjunction with, or instead of, a correction of the upper and/or lower eyelids.
Depending on your personal situation, we will give you the best, honest advice. During the first consultation this will be discussed in more detail.
A brow lift restores the sagging position of the eyebrows, resulting in a rejuvenated and fresher appearance. This procedure can correct drooping eyebrows, improve the field of vision and reduce pressure on the eyelids.
In addition, a brow lift improves the natural contours of the face, contributing to a more open and alert appearance.

This procedure is not performed if there are obvious health risks that could lead to the occurrence of complications. This can happen when taking certain medications such as blood thinners or drugs that affect wound healing.
The biggest drawback of an eyebrow correction is the scar at the top of the eyebrows. This scar may become a little red at first and over time turn into a slightly whiter and possibly visible scar. Therefore, this is not a procedure for women or younger men.
The eyelids may be swollen for the first time after the procedure because the swelling drops down from the eyebrows to both eyes. This swelling may be accompanied by bruising and will last for several weeks.
Infection or bleeding may occur, but the chances of this happening are small. If any of these problems do occur, it will of course be treated appropriately.

I was very well looked after, and everything was explained to me step by step. The final result is exactly what I had hoped for, and I definitely do not regret the treatment. Recovery during the first week was quite tough, but after just one week I was already healing very well. The end result is exactly what I had envisioned for years. I am very satisfied.

I am very satisfied with the treatment at Kliniek het Bolwerk in Haarlem. Dr David Jairath took all the time needed to explain everything clearly and carried out the procedure with great expertise. The treatment of my seborrhoeic wart (POK) went smoothly and without any issues. His friendly and calm manner immediately put me at ease. The communication by email, with clear instructions before and after the treatment, was also very helpful. Absolutely recommended!

Classic brow correction has been one of the most reliable procedures for years. The results are excellent and the treatment is well tolerated. The disadvantage of the procedure is the scar that are immediately visible. In men, this is usually not too bad, but in women, a visible scar above the eyebrow is not attractive.
Therefore, people have been looking for other methods to elevate the eyebrow. Small implants or resorbable screws can be used to fix the eyebrows. Another technique, but it is much larger, is to elevate the entire forehead which also causes the eyebrows to move upward. This procedure is too large for local anesthesia and is therefore performed under general anesthesia. It is a major procedure with an associated downtime.
A brow lift is usually not covered by the health insurance company. Sometimes, after consultation with the plastic surgeon, an application can be submitted to the insurer.Despite this application, reimbursement for the procedure can still be rejected by the insurer.
Only an initial consultation that does not lead to treatment.
We aim to perform the initial consultation and treatment within 2 weeks. Of course, treatment can also be performed at a time of your choice.
It is not wise to drive yourself home after a brow lift. It is better for a family member or acquaintance to drive you home.
The advice is to cool for about 20 minutes per hour lying down and then not for 40 minutes. You will receive all post-surgery living rules and instructions via email after the procedure.
Usually the face turns blue the second day after the procedure. Around the eyebrows, it is usually not as bad. This is because the swelling and bruising sinks down toward the eyes. The bruising goes away quickly, and a trace of discoleration may still be visible a week later. The swelling subsides a little more slowly.
