Scar correction

For some people, disturbing scars can have a negative effect on their self-confidence. Some signs that may indicate trouble with scars are:

  • Insecurity or less self-confidence due to conspicuous or disfiguring scars
  • Physical discomfort, such as pain when moving and touching
  • Psychological discomfort, such as negative self-image and avoidance of social situations

If one or more of these signs are recognizable, a visit to a scar correction specialist may be advisable. During this consultation, we will discuss whether corrective treatment can be considered to treat the scars.

The treatment process

Drs. D Jairath

My name is David Jairath, I am a plastic surgeon with over 15 years of experience in both reconstructive and aesthetic-cosmetic procedures. After studying medicine, I specialized in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

During my career, I have worked in both a teaching hospital and a private clinic. In recent years, I have focused on less invasive procedures for an increased body image and wellbeing. This includes scar surgery, eyelid surgery and other treatments.

At Kliniek het Bolwerk, I use my broad medical knowledge and experience to help each client in a careful and personalized manner. I strive for optimal results with the least possible burden on the client.

My mission is to support clients in their well-being. Together we look at which options best suit the individual situation and wishes. The client is central to this.

Frequently Asked Questions

Scar correction may be necessary when a scar has become distracting and affects your self-confidence. This may be the case with thick, prominent, painful, itchy or irregular scars.

Scar correction can be applied to different types of scars, including scars from surgery, traumatic scars after injuries or burns, and excessive scarring such as keloid scars.

Whether the cost of a scar correction is covered varies by health insurance. In some cases, a scar correction can be reimbursed if there is a medical necessity. Contact your health insurance company for more information on this.

After surgery, it is important to take good care of your scar to promote the healing process and reduce its visibility. We recommend using our sillicone cream daily.

This cream helps soften and reduce your scar. Also be sure to keep your scar clean and moisturized and protect it from the sun. Feel free to ask for more advice during your consultation.
