My name is David Jairath and I have been working as a plastic surgeon since 2004. I started my medical education at the University of Amsterdam. At this university I completed the specialist training to become a plastic surgeon.
During my studies I had the opportunity to do an internship in several hospitals in and outside the Netherlands. After my studies, I started working at the Spaarne Hospital in Hoofddorp, now part of the Spaarne Gasthuis with locations in Haarlem and Hoofddorp.
In this hospital setting, I engaged in reconstructive surgery and collaborated with colleagues in general surgery, hand surgery and general plastic surgery. In addition, I further specialized in cosmetic surgery through the clinic attached to the hospital.
I now put my vast experience of almost 20 years as a plastic surgeon to use at Kliniek het Bolwerk.

Eyelid surgery
I am extremely satisfied with my eyelid surgery by David Jairath. Because I had already had eyelid surgery in the past, I had a good idea of what to expect. That is exactly why this experience stood out as so positive.
David Jairath is a very skilled and professional surgeon, but what really sets him apart for me is how approachable and involved he is. He takes plenty of time to explain everything clearly, listens carefully to your questions and is also easy to reach after the procedure. That gave me a lot of confidence and a sense of safety throughout the whole process.
The aftercare is also excellent. You notice that you as a patient really come first and that there is genuine attention to a good recovery. Questions are answered quickly and kindly, which is very reassuring.
I can therefore wholeheartedly recommend David Jairath to anyone considering eyelid surgery. A skilled surgeon with a pleasant, personal approach and excellent aftercare. I am very happy with my choice and the lovely result.

I am so happy with the result of my treatment with Dr Jairath. I came for a lip correction because of scar tissue, and from the first consultation I immediately had a very pleasant and trusting feeling.
Dr Jairath is a true craftsman through and through. His eye for detail, precision and professionalism immediately give you the confidence that you are in the best hands. He takes all the time you need, listens carefully to your wishes and explains everything clearly and calmly. His assistant also deserves a big compliment. She is extremely friendly, involved and caring and puts you completely at ease from the very first moment.

Eyelid surgery
I went to Mr Jairath for eyelid surgery and I am extremely satisfied with the whole process.
From the first consultation through to the operation and the aftercare, everything felt professional, clear and trustworthy. Mr Jairath is a very skilled doctor with a great deal of knowledge and experience. He knows exactly what he is talking about, puts you at ease and gives honest, good advice.
As far as I am concerned, the procedure and guidance were absolutely worth 5 stars. I am very happy with the result of the correction, my complaints have gone and I feel a lot better for it.

Eyelid surgery
During the intake consultation with Mr David Jairath I already had a good feeling about it. He explained clearly what the procedure involved. After the intake I also received additional information by email. The procedure itself was very relaxed. He explained everything step by step during the procedure. Everything is done under local anaesthetic. We had a really nice conversation during the procedure and before you knew it the treatment was over. I received clear information on what to do after the procedure. After a week the stitches were removed. I am very satisfied with the final result.

Kliniek het Bolwerk performs eyelid surgery in Haarlem, at Staten Bolwerk 1. Patients come from all over North Holland and from the Bollenstreek. On the pages below you can read, per town, how to reach the clinic, roughly how long the journey takes and what you can expect from eyelid surgery.
Like any surgery, an eyelid elevator carries limited risks. Temporary swelling and blue discoloration around the eyes may occur shortly after surgery. These are normal reactions of the body and usually disappear after a few days to a week.
Scarring or asymmetry in the final result are less common. Our specialist performs the procedure carefully to avoid complications as much as possible. In addition, proper aftercare significantly reduces the risk of side effects.
Eyelid surgery is not covered by basic insurance in most cases because it is a cosmetic treatment. Some supplementary insurance policies do offer coverage. It is therefore worth checking whether your health insurer will cover the costs if the procedure is medically necessary. For example, in cases of restricted vision due to swollen or drooping eyelids.
Should your insurance not cover the treatment, you have the option of bearing the cost yourself. We are transparent about the costs. Feel free to contact us for more information. At Kliniek het Bolwerk, we respect the privacy of our clients. Therefore, we do not share “before and after” photos of eyelid surgery without permission. Although we are happy to show the possibilities, medical records and images are private.
However, clients can discuss their own photos with us during the intake interview. This way we give an honest picture of what is possible without revealing specific treatments. Of course, only with permission.
Our specialists are happy to explain what the expectations are. This allows clients to make an informed choice. Respect for privacy is paramount.
The recovery process after eyelid surgery is usually smooth. During the first few days, you can expect swelling and blue discoloration around the eyes. These are normal physical reactions. Take rest for the first 3 days.
After about a week, most of these symptoms disappear. One week after the procedure, the sutures are removed. From then on, you can resume all normal activities, although it will take some time before the final results are visible.
Within two to three weeks, most results are visible. Typically, our clients make an excellent and quick recovery after eyelid surgery at our clinic in North Holland.
