Eyelid surgery always starts with a personal consultation. During this no-obligation conversation we discuss your wishes, complaints and expectations. We look at the skin around your eyes and go through your medical history.
You can easily book an appointment via our website, by phone or via WhatsApp. You receive honest advice about the options, fully tailored to your situation and face.
Based on the intake consultation, Dr Jairath draws up a treatment proposal that suits your face shape and skin condition. We discuss which technique is suitable, what result you can expect and what the recovery will look like.
Any risks and alternatives are also discussed. That way you know exactly where you stand and can make a well-considered choice in your own time.
Are you positive about the treatment proposal? Then we schedule a suitable date for the eyelid surgery together. We naturally take your diary and the travel time from Zaandam into account.
You receive clear instructions beforehand, for example about medication use, what to bring and how to prepare for the treatment day. That way you can come to the clinic well prepared.
Good preparation contributes to a comfortable recovery. We recommend taking a few days off, getting groceries in and having cold packs ready. Also arrange transport for after the procedure.
By organising everything well in advance, you can recover after the procedure in peace and without worries.
Rest the day before the procedure and avoid stress. Check that you have arranged everything: from transport to your sunglasses for after the treatment.
Do you still have questions? Feel free to contact us. We are ready to make everything clear for a carefree treatment day.
On the day of the procedure you come to our clinic in Haarlem. The treatment takes about 45 to 60 minutes and is performed under local anaesthetic.
Afterwards you rest for a while at the clinic. Then you may go home, accompanied. You receive instructions for the first days of your recovery.
In the days after the procedure you may experience swelling or bruising around the eyes. This is normal and fades by itself.
We advise you to take it easy, get enough sleep and cool your eyelids regularly. It is better to postpone strenuous activities for a while.
After about a week you come back to the clinic for a follow-up appointment. During this appointment the stitches are removed and Dr Jairath checks how the recovery is going.
We give you advice on scar care and tips to help your skin recover as well as possible. From this point you can usually return to your normal routine.
After two weeks most of the recovery is behind you. Swelling has usually disappeared and the result becomes increasingly visible: a fresh, open look.
You can use make-up again, play sport and fully resume your daily activities. Of course, you can always contact us if you have questions.
Even after you have fully recovered, you can always come to us. Whether you have questions about scar care, are unsure about the result or would like an extra check-up: we are there for you.
At Kliniek het Bolwerk, care does not stop at the last stitch. We support you for as long as you need.
Over the years, the effect of eyelid surgery can slowly decrease. In some people an excess of skin develops again after 10 to 15 years.
Should you consider a second treatment in the long term, we are happy to schedule a new consultation with you. Together we look at whether a repeat treatment is desirable and what the best approach is at that moment.
Dr David Jairath has been working as a plastic surgeon for more than fifteen years. After completing his medical studies at the University of Amsterdam, he specialised in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Within this field he has always paid close attention to both the functional and the aesthetic side of the profession.
During his training he gained experience at various locations in the Netherlands and abroad. This broad background allowed him to become familiar with a wide range of techniques and approaches. He then worked for many years at Spaarne Gasthuis, where he was involved in reconstructive operations, trauma care and general plastic surgery.
In recent years Dr Jairath has increasingly focused on cosmetic treatments in private care. He now applies that combination of medical precision and an eye for beauty at Kliniek het Bolwerk. His approach is personal, calm and honest, with the aim of a natural result that suits the client and that people feel good about.

Eyelid surgery
I am extremely satisfied with my eyelid surgery by David Jairath. Because I had already had eyelid surgery in the past, I had a good idea of what to expect. That is exactly why this experience stood out as so positive.
David Jairath is a very skilled and professional surgeon, but what really sets him apart for me is how approachable and involved he is. He takes plenty of time to explain everything clearly, listens carefully to your questions and is also easy to reach after the procedure. That gave me a lot of confidence and a sense of safety throughout the whole process.
The aftercare is also excellent. You notice that you as a patient really come first and that there is genuine attention to a good recovery. Questions are answered quickly and kindly, which is very reassuring.
I can therefore wholeheartedly recommend David Jairath to anyone considering eyelid surgery. A skilled surgeon with a pleasant, personal approach and excellent aftercare. I am very happy with my choice and the lovely result.

Eyelid surgery
During the intake consultation with Mr David Jairath I already had a good feeling about it. He explained clearly what the procedure involved. After the intake I also received additional information by email. The procedure itself was very relaxed. He explained everything step by step during the procedure. Everything is done under local anaesthetic. We had a really nice conversation during the procedure and before you knew it the treatment was over. I received clear information on what to do after the procedure. After a week the stitches were removed. I am very satisfied with the final result.

The price of eyelid surgery near Landsmeer depends on your wishes and on what we discuss during the consultation. To always give you the right information, we keep all rates up to date in one central place. That way you can be sure you are seeing the most recent prices, including the first consultation.
On our rates page you will find the complete and current overview of all treatments.
The treatment itself is not painful. We perform the procedure under local anaesthetic, so you feel no pain during the procedure. The anaesthetic works quickly and effectively, and allows you to undergo the treatment in a relaxed way.
After the procedure you may feel some tightness or tenderness around the eyes. This is easily relieved with a cold compress and rest. Most clients find the recovery manageable and have little pain afterwards.
In the first days after the procedure you may have swelling and sometimes bruising around the eyes. This is a normal reaction of the body and gradually fades within a few days to a week.
After one week the stitches are removed. Most people feel well enough to resume their normal activities after one to two weeks. The final result becomes visible after about two to three weeks.
The incisions are made in the natural crease of the eyelid, so the scars are barely visible once healed. We use fine sutures and give you detailed instructions on how to care for the wound.
With good aftercare and healthy healing, scars usually stay small and hardly noticeable.
You can usually resume light activities, such as working from home or calm computer use, after a few days. For strenuous exertion, such as sport or heavy lifting, we advise waiting at least 10 to 14 days.
At the follow-up appointment we give you personal advice based on your recovery. That way you know exactly what you can and cannot do.
In most cases eyelid surgery is a cosmetic procedure and is not reimbursed under basic health insurance. Only when there is a medical indication, for example when your vision is seriously obstructed, may partial reimbursement sometimes be possible.
We advise you to discuss this with your health insurer beforehand. During the consultation we carefully assess whether your situation may qualify for reimbursement.
You see a difference straight after the procedure, but because of swelling and bruising the final result is not visible right away. After one week you already see much of the improvement. The skin recovers quickly and scars fade over time.
After about two to three weeks the final result is clearly visible: a fresher, more rested look with a natural gaze.
