I am David Jairath, a plastic surgeon since 2004. I studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam, where I also trained as a plastic surgeon. During my training I did various placements in the Netherlands and abroad.
After my training I started working at the Spaarne Hospital in Hoofddorp. Today this is the Spaarne Gasthuis, with 3 locations in Hoofddorp, Haarlem Zuid and Haarlem Noord.
In hospital practice I worked on breast reconstructions in collaboration with general surgery, (plastic surgical) trauma, hand surgery and general plastic surgery. At the private clinic (Plastisch Cosmetisch Centrum Spaarne) I specialised further in cosmetic surgery.

Eyelid surgery
I am extremely satisfied with my eyelid surgery by David Jairath. Because I had already had eyelid surgery in the past, I had a good idea of what to expect. That is exactly why this experience stood out as so positive.
David Jairath is a very skilled and professional surgeon, but what really sets him apart for me is how approachable and involved he is. He takes plenty of time to explain everything clearly, listens carefully to your questions and is also easy to reach after the procedure. That gave me a lot of confidence and a sense of safety throughout the whole process.
The aftercare is also excellent. You notice that you as a patient really come first and that there is genuine attention to a good recovery. Questions are answered quickly and kindly, which is very reassuring.

I am so happy with the result of my treatment with Dr Jairath. I came for a lip correction because of scar tissue, and from the first consultation I immediately had a very pleasant and trusting feeling.
Dr Jairath is a true craftsman through and through. His eye for detail, precision and professionalism immediately give you the confidence that you are in the best hands. He takes all the time you need, listens carefully to your wishes and explains everything clearly and calmly. His assistant also deserves a big compliment. She is extremely friendly, involved and caring and puts you completely at ease from the very first moment.

I went to Mr Jairath for eyelid surgery and I am extremely satisfied with the whole process.

During the intake consultation with Mr David Jairath I already had a good feeling about it. He explained clearly what the procedure involved. After the intake I also received additional information by email. The procedure itself was very relaxed. He explained everything step by step during the procedure. Everything is done under local anaesthetic. We had a really nice conversation during the procedure and before you knew it the treatment was over. I received clear information on what to do after the procedure. After a week the stitches were removed. I am very satisfied with the final result.

As with other procedures, an operation carries risks. However, our experienced specialist takes every possible precaution to keep these to a minimum.
One possible risk is that the eye contour is asymmetrical after the procedure or differs slightly from what you wanted. This happens very rarely because our doctor works very precisely.
Sometimes extra swelling or bruising can last longer than normal. Our careful aftercare ensures that this goes away by itself.
Sensation in the area under the eyes may be temporarily reduced after the operation. This rarely lasts longer than a few months.
Very rarely, scarring or other tissue abnormalities can occur. However, our specialist has years of experience in preventing this.
Recovery takes place in several phases. Immediately after the procedure there is swelling and bruising around the eyes. This usually subsides after 2 to 3 days.
During the first week you are advised to take it easy. A mild headache and tenderness are normal. The small wounds heal during this period. Cooling helps the recovery.
After about 7 to 10 days most of the swelling has gone. However, the area may still be slightly tender. Light activities such as reading or working at the computer are possible again.
After 2 to 3 weeks the swelling is almost over. Any remaining swelling or bruising will slowly disappear completely. You can resume sport, provided it is not too intensive.
The full results are visible after 6 to 8 weeks, although the skin may look duller for some time. What you can do is massage your skin with cream to support the healing process.
Sometimes it takes a few months for all the tenderness to disappear. If you have questions during your recovery, you can contact us.
A cosmetic lower eyelid surgery, which only improves appearance, is not covered by most basic health insurance policies. This applies even if there is slight excess skin or fat accumulation.
