I am David Jairath, a plastic surgeon since 2004. I studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam, where I also trained as a plastic surgeon. During my training I did various placements in the Netherlands and abroad.
After my training I started working at the Spaarne Hospital in Hoofddorp. Today this is the Spaarne Gasthuis, with 3 locations in Hoofddorp, Haarlem Zuid and Haarlem Noord.
In hospital practice I worked on breast reconstructions in collaboration with general surgery, (plastic surgical) trauma, hand surgery and general plastic surgery. At the private clinic (Plastisch Cosmetisch Centrum Spaarne) I specialised further in cosmetic surgery.
I now use the many years of experience I gained there for my clients at Kliniek het Bolwerk.

Eyelid surgery
I am extremely satisfied with my eyelid surgery by David Jairath. Because I had already had eyelid surgery in the past, I had a good idea of what to expect. That is exactly why this experience stood out as so positive.
David Jairath is a very skilled and professional surgeon, but what really sets him apart for me is how approachable and involved he is. He takes plenty of time to explain everything clearly, listens carefully to your questions and is also easy to reach after the procedure. That gave me a lot of confidence and a sense of safety throughout the whole process.
The aftercare is also excellent. You notice that you as a patient really come first and that there is genuine attention to a good recovery. Questions are answered quickly and kindly, which is very reassuring.

I am so happy with the result of my treatment with Dr Jairath. I came for a lip correction because of scar tissue, and from the first consultation I immediately had a very pleasant and trusting feeling.
Dr Jairath is a true craftsman through and through. His eye for detail, precision and professionalism immediately give you the confidence that you are in the best hands. He takes all the time you need, listens carefully to your wishes and explains everything clearly and calmly. His assistant also deserves a big compliment. She is extremely friendly, involved and caring and puts you completely at ease from the very first moment.

I went to Mr Jairath for eyelid surgery and I am extremely satisfied with the whole process.
From the first consultation through to the operation and the aftercare, everything felt professional, clear and trustworthy. Mr Jairath is a very skilled doctor with a great deal of knowledge and experience. He knows exactly what he is talking about, puts you at ease and gives honest, good advice.

Eyelid surgery
During the intake consultation with Mr David Jairath I already had a good feeling about it. He explained clearly what the procedure involved. After the intake I also received additional information by email. The procedure itself was very relaxed. He explained everything step by step during the procedure. Everything is done under local anaesthetic. We had a really nice conversation during the procedure and before you knew it the treatment was over. I received clear information on what to do after the procedure. After a week the stitches were removed. I am very satisfied with the final result.

The clinic is in Haarlem, at Staten Bolwerk 1, within walking distance of the station. Patients come from all over North Holland and from the Bollenstreek. You can find an overview of the whole region at eyelid surgery North Holland. For each town you can read how to reach the clinic and roughly how long the journey takes.
As a plastic surgeon, I have years of specialized training and experience in aesthetic surgery, including eyelid surgery. This ensures not only a safe procedure, but also high-quality cosmetic results.
Choosing a plastic surgeon means investing in quality, precision and peace of mind, a difference that goes beyond price.
As with any procedure, eyelid surgery carries a small number of risks. For example, there may be temporary swelling and bruising around the eyes. However, this is normal after such procedures and disappears by itself within a few days to a week.
Scars and asymmetry of the eyes are less common. We perform the procedure meticulously to minimise the risk of side effects. With the right aftercare, the chance of complications is very small.
Eyelid surgery is usually not reimbursed by basic health insurance, because it is a purely cosmetic procedure. Some supplementary policies do offer cover. It is wise to check whether your insurer reimburses this procedure if it is medically necessary, for example with poor vision due to swollen or drooping eyelids.
If your insurance does not reimburse the treatment, you can pay the costs yourself. We are transparent about the price. Feel free to contact us for more information, and we will be happy to help you look at your options. Together we will see which treatment suits you best.
At Kliniek het Bolwerk, we do not share “before and after” photos of our eyelid surgery procedures. We do this out of respect for the privacy of our clients. Although we like to show the results of our treatments, we are not allowed to share medical information and photos without permission.
However, clients can discuss their own before and after photos with us during their intake. This way we like to give an honest picture of what clients can expect from us. This without going into individual treatments without permission.
The recovery process after eyelid surgery usually takes just under a week. In the first few days there will be swelling and bruising around the eyes. This is normal after such a procedure. Take it easy for the first 3 days
After about a week these symptoms have almost disappeared. The stitches are also removed after a week. At that point you are fully back on your feet, although the result will of course take a little while longer.
Within 2 to 3 weeks you will already see most of the final result. Our clients generally recover quickly.
