For more than 15 years I have been working as a plastic surgeon. After studying medicine at the University of Amsterdam, I specialized in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
During my training I did placements in various hospitals, both in the Netherlands and abroad. There I further deepened my knowledge and gained practical experience. After that I started working as a plastic surgeon at Spaarne Gasthuis, where I focused on reconstructive surgery, trauma care and general plastic procedures.
In recent years I have focused more on cosmetic surgery within a private clinic. I now bring that experience to Kliniek het Bolwerk. My aim is to treat every client with care and attention, with a natural and lasting result as the starting point.

I am extremely satisfied with my eyelid surgery by David Jairath. Because I had already had eyelid surgery in the past, I had a good idea of what to expect. That is exactly why this experience stood out as so positive.
David Jairath is a very skilled and professional surgeon, but what really sets him apart for me is how approachable and involved he is. He takes plenty of time to explain everything clearly, listens carefully to your questions and is also easy to reach after the procedure. That gave me a lot of confidence and a sense of safety throughout the whole process.
The aftercare is also excellent. You notice that you as a patient really come first and that there is genuine attention to a good recovery. Questions are answered quickly and kindly, which is very reassuring.

I am so happy with the result of my treatment with Dr Jairath. I came for a lip correction because of scar tissue, and from the first consultation I immediately had a very pleasant and trusting feeling.
Dr Jairath is a true craftsman through and through. His eye for detail, precision and professionalism immediately give you the confidence that you are in the best hands. He takes all the time you need, listens carefully to your wishes and explains everything clearly and calmly. His assistant also deserves a big compliment. She is extremely friendly, involved and caring and puts you completely at ease from the very first moment.

I went to Mr Jairath for eyelid surgery and I am extremely satisfied with the whole process.
From the first consultation through to the operation and the aftercare, everything felt professional, clear and trustworthy. Mr Jairath is a very skilled doctor with a great deal of knowledge and experience. He knows exactly what he is talking about, puts you at ease and gives honest, good advice.

Eyelid surgery
During the intake consultation with Mr David Jairath I already had a good feeling about it. He explained clearly what the procedure involved. After the intake I also received additional information by email. The procedure itself was very relaxed. He explained everything step by step during the procedure. Everything is done under local anaesthetic. We had a really nice conversation during the procedure and before you knew it the treatment was over. I received clear information on what to do after the procedure. After a week the stitches were removed. I am very satisfied with the final result.

Upper eyelid surgery focuses on removing excess skin and fat above the eyes. This is common in people who suffer from drooping eyelids, a tired appearance or a restriction in their field of vision.
Lower eyelid surgery is intended for people with eye bags, wrinkles or slack skin under the eyes. Excess fatty tissue and skin under the eye are removed or repositioned for a smoother, fresher appearance.
For some clients it makes sense to combine both corrections for an optimal result. During the consultation we discuss which option(s) best suit your situation.
In certain cases, upper eyelid surgery can be reimbursed from basic health insurance. This is usually only the case if there is a medical problem, for example when the drooping skin seriously restricts the field of vision.
During the consultation we carry out a visual field test if necessary and can take photos for your health insurer. If you meet the medical criteria, we are happy to help you put together a file for reimbursement. For a cosmetic indication (so when it is purely about appearance), the procedure is usually not reimbursed.
Many people are surprised by how little pain they experience during and after the treatment. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you feel no pain during the correction itself.
After the treatment you may temporarily experience a pulling or pressing feeling around the eyes, comparable to muscle ache or slight tenderness. This feeling decreases quickly. If necessary, you can use paracetamol. Cooling with a cold pack or frozen peas also helps to support recovery.
