Has your piercing torn due to an accident—perhaps from getting caught on something? Or have you worn heavy or ill-fitting jewelry for too long, putting strain on the skin? In both cases, this can lead to a stretched or torn hole. Fortunately, it’s something we can treat effectively.
Our plastic surgeon performs a minor, safe procedure under local anesthesia. Damaged tissue is carefully removed, and the skin edges are neatly brought back together. This ensures a result that’s both medically sound and aesthetically refined.
Most clients heal with minimal or barely visible scarring. We’ll guide you with aftercare instructions to support smooth healing. And if you’d like to get re-pierced later, that’s often possible. We’ll advise you on the best timing and placement to help prevent the same issue from happening again.

Sometimes, you simply want to part ways with your piercing. Maybe it no longer fits your current phase of life. Or perhaps you’re experiencing irritation, discomfort, or a poorly healed scar. In some cases, the piercing may have been placed slightly off-center—which can be especially noticeable on visible areas like the earlobe or nose.
In all of these situations, we can help. We remove piercings with precision, under local anesthesia. The hole is carefully closed in a way that allows the skin to heal as smoothly and naturally as possible. We take into account both your skin type and your aesthetic preferences for the final result.
Our goal is a refined, subtle scar. We’ll also provide you with aftercare advice to support proper healing. This way, you can feel good about your appearance again—without visible traces of the previous piercing.
During your first appointment, we’ll take the time to understand your concerns and wishes. We examine the skin around the piercing area and assess whether there is scarring, skin laxity, or irritation. Together, we’ll walk through the possible treatments step by step, so you know exactly what to expect. There’s plenty of room to ask questions.
If you decide to move forward, we’ll provide clear instructions to help you prepare. This may include hygiene measures and temporarily stopping certain medications, such as blood thinners. Good preparation supports a smooth recovery.
The treatment is performed under local anesthesia. Depending on the location—such as the earlobe or navel—we make a small incision, remove any scar tissue if necessary, and carefully bring the skin edges back together.
We use fine sutures to close the wound neatly, aiming for a subtle and refined result. After the procedure, you can go home the same day. You’ll receive clear aftercare instructions to help ensure proper healing.
Around 10 to 14 days later, you’ll return for a follow-up appointment. We assess how the wound is healing and remove the sutures if needed. This is done carefully and with attention to your comfort.
In the first weeks after the procedure, it’s important to keep the area clean and avoid strain. Try to prevent friction, pressure from clothing, or pulling on the skin.
Full recovery usually takes between 6 and 12 weeks. During this time, the scar tissue will mature and the skin will soften. We’ll advise you on scar care, such as using silicone patches or a recommended cream. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
David Jairath has 15+ years of experience in aesthetic procedures.
Each treatment is tailored to your situation and wishes through a personal consultation.
We meet the highest standards for sterilisation, hygiene, and safety.
Our team carefully guides you through the recovery process and answers all your questions, even after the procedure.
We recommend carefully considering your wishes first. Are you planning to get a new piercing in the same spot later? Or are you still undecided?
Bring this up during your consultation. In some cases, it’s better to wait before proceeding with a correction, so we can choose the most appropriate approach together.
If there is redness, swelling, discharge (pus), or pain, you may be dealing with an active infection. In that case, it’s important to let the area heal completely before undergoing a surgical procedure.
We’re happy to support you in this process, but full recovery should always come first.
As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks—such as infection, swelling, bruising, or scar formation. Fortunately, complications are rare.
We take every precaution to minimize risks. This includes working under sterile conditions, giving clear instructions, and offering thorough aftercare.
During the consultation, we’ll explain everything calmly and clearly. You’ll also hear what you can do yourself to support the healing process. Think of rest, avoiding pressure on the treated area, and keeping the skin clean and protected.

I was very well looked after, and everything was explained to me step by step. The final result is exactly what I had hoped for, and I definitely do not regret the treatment. Recovery during the first week was quite tough, but after just one week I was already healing very well. The end result is exactly what I had envisioned for years. I am very satisfied.

I am very satisfied with the treatment at Kliniek het Bolwerk in Haarlem. Dr David Jairath took all the time needed to explain everything clearly and carried out the procedure with great expertise. The treatment of my seborrhoeic wart (POK) went smoothly and without any issues. His friendly and calm manner immediately put me at ease. The communication by email, with clear instructions before and after the treatment, was also very helpful. Absolutely recommended!

Only applies to a consultation that does not result in treatment.
No, the treatment is performed under local anesthesia. You may feel a small pinch during the numbing process, but the procedure itself is painless.
Most corrections take between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on the location and complexity. You can go home the same day after the treatment.
We use fine sutures and close the skin in a way that promotes the cleanest possible healing. In most cases, only a subtle scar remains, which can fade further with proper aftercare.
We recommend waiting at least 6 to 12 weeks, depending on how well your skin heals. During the follow-up appointment, we’ll assess the area and advise you on the safest time to re-pierce.
