My name is David Jairath and I have been working as a plastic surgeon since 2004. I started my medical education at the University of Amsterdam. At this university I completed the specialist training to become a plastic surgeon.
During my studies I had the opportunity to do an internship in several hospitals in and outside the Netherlands. After my studies, I started working at the Spaarne Hospital in Hoofddorp, now part of the Spaarne Gasthuis with locations in Haarlem and Hoofddorp.
In this hospital setting, I engaged in reconstructive surgery and collaborated with colleagues in general surgery, hand surgery and general plastic surgery. In addition, I further specialized in cosmetic surgery through the clinic attached to the hospital.
I now put my vast experience of almost 20 years as a plastic surgeon to use at Kliniek het Bolwerk.

Fibroma removal
After doing a lot of research, I ended up choosing Klinik Het Bolwerk. I have quite a few moles on my face that I wanted to have removed. For me, it’s very important that this is done as beautifully as possible, cosmetically speaking. The procedure was done a little over two weeks ago, and I have to say that I am very satisfied with the size of the scars. I can see that the doctor used the smallest possible method to remove my moles. I really appreciate this, because it will help the result look as good as possible. Next month, I will have the remaining moles removed, as I am very happy with the current progress. In addition, I find the doctor very trustworthy, friendly, and social. All bonus points!

Eyelid surgery
For the second time in my life, I had an eyelid correction done and I am very satisfied and happy. The procedure was completely painless and Dr. Jairath kept chatting pleasantly so I never had time to feel nervous. The recovery also went quickly and I feel reborn and ten years younger!

Piercing holes removed around my mouth. Mr Jairath is friendly, explains things clearly and takes his time. I was very nervous and he was very patient with me and not rushed, which you often experience in other clinics where it feels a bit like an assembly line. Like any surgery, an eyelid elevator carries limited risks. Temporary swelling and blue discoloration around the eyes may occur shortly after surgery. These are normal reactions of the body and usually disappear after a few days to a week.
Scarring or asymmetry in the final result are less common. Our specialist performs the procedure carefully to avoid complications as much as possible. In addition, proper aftercare significantly reduces the risk of side effects.
Eyelid surgery is not covered by basic insurance in most cases because it is a cosmetic treatment. Some supplementary insurance policies do offer coverage. It is therefore worth checking whether your health insurer will cover the costs if the procedure is medically necessary. For example, in cases of restricted vision due to swollen or drooping eyelids.

At Kliniek het Bolwerk, we respect the privacy of our clients. Therefore, we do not share “before and after” photos of eyelid surgery without permission. Although we are happy to show the possibilities, medical records and images are private.
However, clients can discuss their own photos with us during the intake interview. This way we give an honest picture of what is possible without revealing specific treatments. Of course, only with permission.

The recovery process after eyelid surgery is usually smooth. During the first few days, you can expect swelling and blue discoloration around the eyes. These are normal physical reactions. Take rest for the first 3 days.
After about a week, most of these symptoms disappear. One week after the procedure, the sutures are removed. From then on, you can resume all normal activities, although it will take some time before the final results are visible.
Within two to three weeks, most results are visible. Typically, our clients make an excellent and quick recovery after eyelid surgery at our clinic in North Holland.
