I have now been working as a plastic surgeon for more than 15 years. After studying medicine at the University of Amsterdam, I specialised in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
During my training I did placements in various hospitals in the Netherlands and abroad, greatly broadening my knowledge and experience. After that I started working as a plastic surgeon at Spaarne Gasthuis, where I focused on reconstructive surgery, trauma and general plastic surgery.

Eyelid surgery
I am extremely satisfied with my eyelid surgery by David Jairath. Because I had already had eyelid surgery in the past, I had a good idea of what to expect. That is exactly why this experience stood out as so positive.
David Jairath is a very skilled and professional surgeon, but what really sets him apart for me is how approachable and involved he is. He takes plenty of time to explain everything clearly, listens carefully to your questions and is also easy to reach after the procedure. That gave me a lot of confidence and a sense of safety throughout the whole process.
The aftercare is also excellent. You notice that you as a patient really come first and that there is genuine attention to a good recovery. Questions are answered quickly and kindly, which is very reassuring.

I am so happy with the result of my treatment with Dr Jairath. I came for a lip correction because of scar tissue, and from the first consultation I immediately had a very pleasant and trusting feeling.
Dr Jairath is a true craftsman through and through. His eye for detail, precision and professionalism immediately give you the confidence that you are in the best hands. He takes all the time you need, listens carefully to your wishes and explains everything clearly and calmly. His assistant also deserves a big compliment. She is extremely friendly, involved and caring and puts you completely at ease from the very first moment.

I went to Mr Jairath for eyelid surgery and I am extremely satisfied with the whole process.
From the first consultation through to the operation and the aftercare, everything felt professional, clear and trustworthy. Mr Jairath is a very skilled doctor with a great deal of knowledge and experience. He knows exactly what he is talking about, puts you at ease and gives honest, good advice.

Eyelid surgery
During the intake consultation with Mr David Jairath I already had a good feeling about it. He explained clearly what the procedure involved. After the intake I also received additional information by email. The procedure itself was very relaxed. He explained everything step by step during the procedure. Everything is done under local anaesthetic. We had a really nice conversation during the procedure and before you knew it the treatment was over. I received clear information on what to do after the procedure. After a week the stitches were removed. I am very satisfied with the final result.

That way you know exactly where you stand beforehand, with no surprises afterwards.
Eyelid surgery is considered a relatively simple procedure, but as with any operation, certain risks come with it. In the days afterwards you can expect some swelling, sensitivity or bruising. Annoying, but temporary: usually nothing can be seen of it within a few days to a few weeks.
More serious complications, such as an infection or a visible scar, are rare. The fact that we work under local anaesthetic and place the small incisions precisely in the natural skin crease contributes a great deal to this.
The best protection against complications is good preparation and carefully following the aftercare advice. We take plenty of time for this during your consultation, so you know exactly what you can do yourself for a smooth and safe recovery.
That mainly depends on the reason for your procedure. If it is a cosmetic wish, it generally falls outside basic health insurance. Do you have supplementary insurance? Then take a look at your policy conditions, as the odd insurer reimburses part of it.
If your eyelids hang so low that they obstruct your vision, there is a medical indication. In that case (partial) reimbursement is sometimes possible. Your health insurer can give you clarity on this most quickly.
If you choose to pay yourself, you will not face any surprises with us. We work with clear, fixed rates and go through them calmly with you during the intake consultation.
There are two reasons for this. The first is privacy: showing a client's face online simply goes too far for us. Even with permission it remains sensitive material, and we consciously guard that boundary. The second reason is that someone else's result says little about yours. Every face, every skin and every starting situation is different.
Instead of standard photos, we choose a personal conversation. You are welcome to bring your own photos, and we will use them to look at what is possible in your case.
That way you get an honest and realistic picture that is truly tailored to your situation. In the end, that is a lot more valuable than a row of examples from other people.
The drive from Amsterdam-Zuid is quick and easy. Follow the A10 ring road westwards and then switch to the A4/A9 towards Haarlem. Then follow the signs for the N200.
On the way you pass Ikea; at the traffic lights keep following the gentle bend, and you will be on the N200 towards Haarlem. Cross the bridge over the Spaarne and keep right after Haarlem station.
Just behind the station you will find us on the right-hand side, at Staten Bolwerk 1. Parking is free and there is plenty of space.

Follow the A10 towards Haarlem. Then take the A4/A9 and follow the exit to the N200.
Drive past the Ikea and take the slight turn at the traffic lights to stay on the N200 toward Haarlem.
Follow this road across the bridge over the Spaarne and keep right after passing Haarlem station.
Our clinic is located on the right side on Staten Bolwerk 1, just after the train station. There is plenty of free parking.
