Forehead wrinkles. Everyone deals with them sooner or later. Sometimes they arise from expressive facial expressions, such as looking surprised or frowning. Sometimes they deepen due to age, stress or loss of skin elasticity. Either way, they can give your face a tired or stern appearance, even when you feel perfectly fine. More and more people therefore choose a subtle solution with botox. But what exactly does botox do for forehead wrinkles, and what can you expect from it?
In this blog we explain it step by step, so that you know exactly what botox can mean for your forehead.
Why do forehead wrinkles arise?
Forehead wrinkles arise from repeated movements of the muscles in the forehead. Every time you raise your eyebrows, for example in surprise or concentration, you contract the frontalis muscle. In the beginning the lines disappear on their own as soon as your face relaxes again, but over time they remain visible. This is because the skin becomes thinner and less elastic with age.
What was at first only visible during expression eventually becomes a permanent line. These horizontal wrinkles can give your face a tired or aged impression, even when you feel fit and energetic. Botox can then offer a solution.

How does botox work against wrinkles on the forehead?
Botox, or botulinum toxin, is a substance that temporarily interrupts the transmission of impulses from nerves to muscles. By injecting small amounts of botox into the forehead, the muscle relaxes. As a result, the skin lying over it smooths out and the wrinkles fade or disappear.
It is important to know that botox does not add volume and does not change your facial structure. The aim is a relaxed, fresh appearance in which your expression is preserved. So you do not have to be afraid of a tight or unnatural effect, as long as the treatment is carried out professionally.
When do you see results and how long does it remain visible?
After a treatment with botox, the effect usually begins to become visible after about two to five days. The optimal result is achieved after about ten to fourteen days. The newer botulinum toxins work faster, as soon as 1 to 2 days, and last longer, up to 6 months. Your forehead then looks smoother and calmer, without you losing your facial expression.
The effect of botox lasts on average three to six months. After that, the muscle activity gradually returns and the wrinkles can become visible again. Many people therefore have the treatment repeated two or three times a year to maintain the result.

Is the treatment painful or invasive?
A botox treatment of the forehead is quick, safe and barely painful. The injections are administered with a very fine needle and often take no longer than ten minutes. Most people experience only a slight prick. Anaesthetic is usually not necessary.
After the treatment you can simply resume your daily activities. It is, however, wise not to lie down, exercise intensively or touch the treated area for the first four hours. Any bruising or swelling is rare and usually disappears within a few days.
For whom is botox for the forehead suitable?
Botox is suitable for anyone who is bothered by the visible wrinkles on the forehead. That can be at a young age, with early expression lines, or precisely at a later age when the wrinkles have become deeper.
Some people choose to use botox preventively, to counter the formation of permanent wrinkles. Others want to soften their appearance or take the tiredness out of their expression. Whatever your motivation, botox is an accessible way to achieve that without surgery.

Is the result natural?
